Welcome back to all new and current Fun Lakers Club members in the Sun Lakes and SunBird communities. Our fall season is now in full swing. In September, we held an Escape Room challenge where teams of eight attempted to solve a mystery with clues and information in order to escape the room. We read some tips at the Paranoia Quest website before giving it our best shot. As we found out, this event was definitely QUITE a challenge!

On October 20, the club will be hosting Comedy Night featuring Tim Bateman in the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood. Tim comes to us from Australia. He is a first-class talent, and we are excited to welcome him to our communities. The cost is $7.50 per member and $9.50 for nonmembers. All Fun Lakers’ members have received the event flyer and registration form by email. The information is also posted on our website at www.funlakers.org.

One season-long event is the “Sun Lakes Dance Party,” sponsored by the Fun Lakers Club. The cost for the 2018-2019 season is $50.00 per person. The deadline for a season purchase will be the night of the first dance, October 18. Tickets may also be purchased for each event separately. The cost at the door is $12.00 per person for a single dance.

In addition to the October dance, the season schedule includes dances on November 15, January 17, February 21, March 21 and April 11. The dances are held in the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood. Music will be provided by Thaddeus Rose. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., a dance lesson begins at 6:30 p.m. and open dancing will be from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The registration form for the full season is currently available on our website.

Chili for Charity will be returning again this year on November 10 at the Ironwood clubhouse. Plans are currently in the works for the event, and details will be sent out to all members and posted on the website.

Please also mark your calendar for the annual Holiday Dinner Dance on December 15. This year’s entertainment will be Thaddeus Rose.

The Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and, of course, Having Fun! If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you, why not give us a try?

We will be hosting a table at each of the four Sun Lakes/SunBird Open Houses where you can get additional information about the club. The dates for the Open Houses include Cottonwood October 13, SL Phase 1 October 20, Oakwood October 27 and SunBird November 14. Our membership form is also available on our website at www.funlakers.org. The cost for membership remains $12.00 per person. The season for fun lasts all year round for the Fun Lakers Club, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our future events.
