In April, the Fun Lakers Club (FLC) nominated the new board, committee chairs, vice-chairs and community ambassadors for the upcoming season. Voting for the new positions took place on April 24. We would like to congratulate everyone and appreciate your time and talent as we enter a new FLC season. All board and committee positions begin on July 1 for the 2019-2020 season.
Our new Fun Lakers Board and Committee Chairs include:
President – Don Morgan, Vice President – Debbie Bernhart, Secretary – Colleen Ferris, Treasurer – Jackie Morgan, Activities – Jim Barry, Hospitality – Maxine Palmer, Membership – Felix and Donna Petrillo, Publicity – Bob and Vicki Bybee, Webmaster – Wayne Karp.
On May 11, club members drove to Canyon Lake in Apache Junction for a twilight dinner cruise on the Dolly Steamboat. The experience included a trip through the inner waterways of spectacular Canyon Lake. Our guide shared highlights of the area’s violent volcanic past and recounted legends and lore about the history of the Superstition Mountains and the historic Apache Trail. I’m sure everyone agreed that it was an amazing experience.
The Fun Lakers Club is planning two events for keeping cool while enjoying time together with friends this summer. Our club develops these monthly activities so that whether you’re a snowbird or a full-time resident, there’s always something to do at FLC.
On June 29, we will be hosting a Pool Party at the Palo Verde Michigan Avenue Pool. In July, members and guests will be attending Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Hale Theatre in Gilbert. Details for each of these activities will be available on our website at www.funlakers.org, and event flyers and registration forms will be sent directly to all members via email as they become available.
The Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and, of course, having fun! If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you and you are staying in Sun Lakes over the summer, this may be the perfect time of the year to give us a try. The cost for joining is $12.00 per person. This is also a great time to purchase the season pass for the Sun Lakes Dance Party. The cost until July 1 is $45.00 per person which covers all six dances for the 2019-2020 season and is a savings of 37%.
