The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will again be open at Sun Lakes. The location will be in the Sun Lakes Posse Building at 9531 E. Riggs Rd. Access to the parking lot is off Pima Place.

Both federal and state returns will be filed electronically. If filing jointly, both spouses must sign the return.

Bring the following documents with you: Picture ID, Form SSA-1099 Social Security Benefit Statement (or social security card if you did not receive social security income), proof of all income such as 1099-R forms, W-2 forms and self-employment records if applicable.

If you want a refund to be direct deposited to your account, bring a blank check so your bank routing number and account number is available.

Also bring prior year tax returns for federal and state if available. A new soft-ware program is being used so access to your prior returns will not be available.

The VITA site will be open on Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-noon starting February 3, 2017.

Sign Up Procedure: Returns will be scheduled by appointment. You will need to call the Administration Services counter at Sun Lakes Country Club at 480-895-9270 for an appointment. Appointments will be made for 9, 10, 11 and noon. It is anticipated that 20-25 appointment slots will be available each Friday.

Special provisions can be made for home bound residents. If applicable, please advise the desk when calling you need your documents to be picked up from your home.
