In this advanced version of Turning Memories into Memoirs, focus will include polishing and organizing writing, learning what appeals to publishers and structuring a final manuscript. Registration is for all four sessions. Must register with library staff. Limit 15.

Monday, June 4, at 1:00 p.m.: Let’s Chat about Alexa and Other A.I. Devices*

Many voice-activated artificial intelligence (A.I.) devices are coming to market. What are they? How can they be most helpful to you? What could go wrong with a computer device that is listening to you all of the time? These are some of the questions that will be explored in this class, along with helpful tips and tricks with our new A.I. personal assistants.

Are you bewildered by the claims thrown out by various popular diets? Learn the truths and myths about diets and nutrition. Presented by the Maricopa County Dept. of Public Health.

Thursday, June 14, at 1:00 p.m.: Dr. Chandler and the Land Fraud that Built the Valley*

Explore Chandler’s early history to understand how people acquired land. Explore the canal system from Mesa to the south Valley and learn how Dr. AJ Chandler facilitated business deals as he sold land and reacquired it when people could not pay their mortgage.

Tuesday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m.: The Kilted Man*

The Kilted Man, Matthew Gurnsey, gives a rousing performance of traditional Irish and Scottish music, through the marriage of wit and finesse. Enjoy sweeping tales of wayward voyages and unrequited love.

Thursday, June 21, at 1:00 p.m.: Lavender Love: Herbs and Crafts for Adults

It’s not just for candles! Lavender is an ancient herb prized for its culinary and medicinal purposes. Learn about the history and uses of this incredible plant and make your own lavender craft to help ease stress. Registration required, begins on May 1. Age 18 and over. Limit 25.

Monday, June 25, at 1:00 p.m.: It’s a Mystery to Me: Storytime for Grownups

Do you love to know “whodunit”?? Join us for this grownup storytime, featuring a mystery short story or two. Feel free to bring a lunch or snack and enjoy being read to!

*Seating begins 15 minutes before the program starts. Limit 100 attendees.
