In the March 1999 issue of the Splash there was a little insert inviting all unattached singles living in Ironwood or Oakwood to meet in the Greenbriar Room at Oakwood every Monday at 4:00 p.m.

The first official meeting took place on April 5, 1999, with 19 members. The name of the group was “The Happy Solos” and was only open to IronOaks residents. Singles from other areas must receive an invitation before attending. The group would meet for cocktails every Monday and then go to the dinner dance in the Oakwood Ballroom. They also started shooting pool on Thursdays.

Since then, the name has been changed, residents of all of Sun Lakes, Springfield and SunBird have been included and we have a variety of activities and close to 200 members to enjoy them.

Cheers has created some wonderful lasting friends and memories. We have a great group. Come join us.
