The original Sun Lakes Fire Department’s Station One was built in 1978 by the community and with the help of Sun Lakes’ developer Ed Robson. It was originally manned by volunteers for both fire and medical calls until professional firefighters and paramedics were hired and supplemented by volunteers in the late ‘80s. This station was torn down and the new station built in the same location in 2004 at the intersection of Sun Lakes Boulevard and Fairway Boulevard.
