On Dec. 10, the IronOaks Ladies Billiards group met for their annual Christmas challenge game and celebrated Christmas with great food and conversation at Stone & Vine for lunch.

Our group plays weekly from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday mornings in the Billiards Room at the Oakwood Country Club. Most of us come 15 minutes early to warm up. We then draw numbers to determine our partner for the morning and table. Then we play 8-ball, 9-ball, or cut throat, depending on the number of players that day and the time remaining. We quit promptly at 11 a.m. when the men’s team begins. We also go out to lunch as a group once a month, sampling a wide assortment of restaurants.

Our team employs a caring attitude, supporting each other as we tackle the challenges ahead for all of us. We also willingly share our knowledge about pool so that we all grow and become better players. Our group is open to women with some experience playing pool, residing in Sun Lakes (Oakwood, Ironwood, Cottonwood, and Palo Verde). If you’re looking for a fun group and can commit to playing weekly most Tuesdays (the summer months are optional for snowbirds), we’d love to grow our group.
