Ironwood Lady Niners get around

Ironwood Lady Niners get around.

Vickie Mendenhall and Beth Zdeblick, Publicity

Making sure the IWLN are represented at all functions, Judy Thompson and Denise Fleshner work the table at the October 27 Open House at Oakwood. The Niners also had Judy Thompson and Judy Frink available to disperse information at the November 7 Golf Expo at the Oakwood driving range.

New Members: A warm welcome is extended to our newest members of the IWLN: Lori Fleischer, Barbara Stewart, Dianne O’Neil, deChantal Riley, Linda Hewitt and Jeannette Fletcher. Anyone who is interested in joining the IWLN can contact our Membership Chairperson Janis Gustafson at 701-388-5833.

Many, many thanks are in order for two very special members of the IWLN. Our current President Denise Fleshner has been involved with the Lady Niners since 2012. Not only has she been the president of the league for the past two years, but she was our vice-president in 2016. She was the committee chairperson for scoring for several years and she successfully took on the job of the 2014 Charity Invitational. Denise has worked diligently and tenaciously over her many years in the IWLN. A huge and sincere thank you goes out to Denise for her dedication and leadership. Chances are that she will not stay on the sidelines as Denise is and will continue to be a dedicated member of the Lady Niners.

Another lady who has donated more hours to IWLN than can be counted is Nancy Davis. Although Nancy does not currently golf with the Niners, she began her tenure with the league over 10 years ago. Nancy has literally done it all. In 2009 and 2010, Nancy was treasurer as well as the communication chair and ran the 2010 Charity Invitational. Apparently, those positions didn’t keep Nancy busy enough, so she became the vice president of the IWLN in 2011 which led to her being president in 2012 and 2013. Nancy recently resigned as the communication chair, a job which she has done for the last five years. Nancy deserves a rest, but not before we give her a huge and sincere thank you.

Upcoming Events: You won’t want to miss It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere which is the theme of the IWLN 2019 Golf Invitational. It promises to be a fun day filled with prizes, food and great golf. Mark your calendars for March 20, 2019. Contact Deb Burns at [email protected] for information.

December 12 is the annual holiday brunch which will be held at Ironwood. A general meeting for the members of the IWLN will begin at 10:00 a.m. with brunch following at 10:45 a.m.

Hottie: Not everyone can brave the heat to play golf weekly during the summer, but Linda Liberti did, and rumor has it that she actually enjoyed it! That’s dedication!

Golf Prowess: On November 7, the following Lady Niners recorded the fewest putts for 9 holes: Janis Gustafson had 15 putts while Pat Burnham, Barb Johnston and Barb Frank had 16 putts. Nicely done, ladies.
