Last chance to sign up for the October CAP Class

Brian Curry

The volunteer Community Assistance Program (CAP) of the Sun Lakes Fire Department has advised that there is only a short time left to sign on for their late October orientation and training class.

The CAP program works under the direction of SLFD crews and responds with them to emergency calls. While the Fire Department and medical crews aid the ill or injured, the CAP two-member crew works with other family members or friends who may need assistance.

CAP members must be in general good health, have a good driving record, pass a background check and be willing to work two monthly shifts as well as attend a monthly meeting.

Before the new class starts candidates must complete two preliminary ride-alongs with a working CAP team to learn how the team operates and to experience what typical shifts are like.

If this type of community service interests you give CAP member Pat Weitzel a call at 480-802-3521.
