Men’s Niners August results

Jim Wegman, Publicity

Once again I must report the loss of former league members. Our friend Jim Liddiard passed away on August 11 at his home in Utah. Jim loved skiing and golf and excelled at both sports. He was a soft spoken gentleman of the old school. To Jim’s wife Mary Lynn and the members of the Liddiard family, I would like to offer my sincere condolences on Jim’s passing.

Long time Niner Don Gueldenhaar passed away at his Illinois home in August. Don was a big friendly guy, quick with a handshake for new members and a laugh for a good joke. He enjoyed golf and played often in different groups. I often spoke with Don as he sat by his pool and we always found some new golf topic to explore. To Don’s wife Carol and the members of the Gueldenhaar family, I would like to offer my sincere condolences on Don’s passing.

One more time for those members whose memory may be faulty. Golf Rule 4-4. a. You may not start a round with more than 14 clubs. In stroke play, the penalty is two strokes for each hole at which any breach of the Rule occurred; maximum penalty per round: four strokes. Partners may share clubs, provided that the total number of clubs carried by the partners so sharing, does not exceed 14. And, as we play honestly and follow the rules, we expect all members to comply and take no undue advantage over their fellow golfers. So gentlemen, check those bags one more time.

Bob Deken has resigned his position as Niners Treasurer and Game Manager. We thank Bob for his past efforts and wish him success with his future endeavors. We are actively searching for a new Treasurer and an additional Game Manager. Vice President Joe Sigillo will be happy to answer any questions and outline the duties of either position.
