If you are new to the area and would like to meet other golfers, come to the Oakwood Pro shop. You will be welcome! You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join MOGA. We have over 350 members with golfers of every level. You will meet new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week. Membership application and more information is available on our website at www.mogagolf.org. This would be a good time to join!
Upcoming schedule (game descriptions are on the MOGA website):
February 7 AM – AB Scramble/CD Scramble
February 14 AM – President’s Cup
February 21 AM – President’s Cup
February 28 AM – Beat the Pro—Eddy (75% Handicap)
March has five events starting with a Member/Member (Chapman) on March 7 (no PM), followed by the Ironwood Wealth Mgt. on the 14th. Then Oakwood/Palo Verde, Home & Home on the 21st, Thursday (at Oakwood) and 23rd, Saturday (at Palo Verde). The Member/Guest will be played on 28th of March. A busy month of golf! (April and May are also five events months.)
Special Note: The East Valley Marines 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 5, at the Oakwood Country Club. Information is on the bulletin board in the Pro Shop. It is a fun event, so sign up early; “Helping Veterans in Need.”
New Golf Rules (Laws): New changes to the rules, now referred to as “Laws” are in effect. Some of the new laws are optional and the Pro Staff are reviewing how the rules will be applied on our courses. For more information about the rule changes, please go to the link on our website.
As you all know, we have five tees at Oakwood: black, blue, white, yellow and silver. Everyone in MOGA is defaulted to play the White Tees during MOGA Tournaments. Under certain conditions, a player can request to change their default tees. Print space does not permit listing all the conditions in this article. Please contact MOGA Tournament Director Dan Muth at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Many thanks to all who signed up for the “Adopt A Hole” program. It helps to keep the courses in good playing condition.
