The end of summer is almost here, and that means the start of the club season will soon begin. Beth Ruggiero-York and Amy Horn from Arizona Highways Photo Workshops are a couple of names on the list of presenters for this season. Stay tuned for more…

Featured Images: Merced River with Half Dome looks pretty inviting right now with the sweltering temperatures of the desert. Lynn took advantage of over 20 inches of snowfall the previous evening to capture this serene image. Lynn’s image received first place (print, class A) at the EOY Banquet. Jan’s Fox on the Hunt was honored at our Arizona Camera Club Council’s Spring Round Up 2017. Jan used her Canon 7d with 400mm lens when capturing the red fox jumping a fence in Montana.

Editing News/Tips: Photoshop: Shortcut Cmd/Ctrl+F is used for reapplying the last used filter; however, with the most recent release, it invokes the Photoshop search experience. Recommend that you create your own shortcut if this is used. Try it and see what happens. Lightroom: Enhanced support for new camera and lens models along with their bug fixes. Tip: Lights Out mode in Lightroom is a great way to focus on your image; while in Library module tap L once to dim the interface around, tap a second time to go all black then tap a third time to reset to original viewing.

Gear: Nikon celebrated its 100th anniversary on July 25, 2017. The company has created a number of commemorative goods around the occasion. Camera and lens models such as D5 and 70-200mm f/2.8E can be found with a slick, metallic finish and special 100th anniversary logo and engraved with commemorative serial number, to name a few. The Manfrotto PixiPano360 can be remotely controlled to create panoramas and moving timelapse videos with your camera.

Meeting/Club News: Our next meeting will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017, in the Ceramics Room starting at 6:30 p.m. Check sunlakescameraclub.com for updates and event changes. Local and neighboring residents are invited to drop in to participate and learn more on how to become a member at all meetings. New members, reach out to Wayne Divoky, Competition Chair, to create your competition account. He and his committee can assist with the process of uploading your images for the competitions and/or creating a gallery of your images.
