Rover’s Rest Stop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves the Sun Lakes community and the surrounding area. Rover’s Rest Stop is a small dog rescue that has been in business for almost 25 years. You will find Rover’s Rest Stop at the Cottonwood Country Club Art Room on the second Saturday of every month for our adoption event. Our founder Dee Williams has extensive experience in handling dogs of all breeds. Her experience with holistic diets and natural treatment of illness in dogs sets her apart from most rescues. Rover’s Rest Stop not only places dogs in Forever Homes but supports the family for the life of the dog. Dee is always on call for questions about behavior, nutrition, medical concerns, and training. Dee has over 30 years of pet sitting experience in the East Valley.
Due to our commitment to the Sun Lakes community, Rover’s Rest Stop initiated our Emergency Pet Sitting Program. Our program is designed to provide the residents of Sun Lakes with peace of mind by taking care of their pet in the event of an emergency. Our beloved pets are often left behind during an emergency, and friends are often not prepared to care for our pets. Family may not be able to take care of them due to their desire to be with their loved one during the medical event. We are working with the Sun Lakes Fire Department to make sure that your pet is taken care of during this difficult time. They will work with us to secure your pet safely and contact Rover’s Rest Stop.
In order to provide the best care possible, we prefer to register residents in advance. This allows Dee a chance to get information she needs on your pet. It also allows her to meet you and your pet prior to an emergency. We will provide you with an emergency packet: a bag that contains a leash, a bag for medications for your dog if they require medication, a magnet for your refrigerator, a business card for your wallet, and an information card.
We have developed a relationship with the Sun Lakes Fire Department, and in the event you have an emergency and are not pre-registered, we have provided them with an Emergency Kit to rapidly gather basic information on your pet. You will be given a card with Rover’s Rest Stop information so that you can contact them about your pet.
Rover’s Kids welcome all of their extended family to join in the second Saturday of every month for the Meet & Greet from 9 a.m. to noon in the Paint Room (A-7) in Cottonwood. If you need more information, call 480-600-2828. Besides adoption of small dogs, we assist with boarding and owner surrenders. We will be participating in the neighborhood garage sales with new and gently used dog items. Be sure to stop by! Rover’s Kids could not do it without your support. Thank you!
