The Oakwood Couples battled it out for the highly sought-after championship of the couples league on March 23. Mary and Bob Figgis won low gross in the championship flight for the second year in a row. Liz and Harry Pritchard took the honors for low net in the championship flight. Other winners were Don and Lorraine Blair for low gross in first flight, John and Leanne Durham low gross in second flight, MJ and Duane Coking took low gross in third flight and Gene and Connie Hughes were low gross in fourth flight.

The Figgis and Prichard couples were not able to attend the dinner; hence, no candid picture of the winners at dinner. I was at a loss as what to do for a photo and had pretty much decided to send in a picture of my very photogenic dog Tango for a change of pace. Unfortunately, Mary Figgis was able to send me a nice picture of Bob and the better golfer of the family. The Pritchards were prominently featured in the last Splash article, so no more photo coverage of those two characters this month.

Dinner was a delicious cod meal served at Ironwood. Who knew fish could taste so good? I guess a lot of breading and some deep frying helped. Only a few more couples events left for this year. This will leave a big hole in the social calendar for many of the year-round residents of Sun Lakes.

Would you would like to join the fun next year? We generally play twice a month on the second and fourth Friday from mid-November to mid-May. To join for next year, simply complete a membership application, pay the membership fee of $30 and sign up to play. For each event, there is a fee for golf and dinner.
