OLGA members gathered for their free margarita before lunch at the Member-Member event on Nov. 19. I’m not sure there was any tequila in the “free drink.”

Nov. 19 was OLGA’s Member-Member event. At the luncheon, a few OLGA members who had been browbeat into submission by Mary Buhrt, agreed to attempt to sing Whitney Houston’s hit single “I Want to Dance with Somebody.” This became, for the lunch, “I Want to Golf with Somebody.” Well, it turns out that the OLGA members are much better golfers than they are singers. But they sure were an enthusiastic bunch. I know Mary Buhrt had her hands full trying to convince people to sing. A number of people turned her down, but she persisted and got several people to agree to sing. When she texted several of us about singing at the luncheon, the responses ranged from, “Did I agree to do that?” to “I didn’t agree to that,” to “I don’t even sing at church anymore, since my voice is so bad.” I’ve had people tell me they thought their voice was bad until they heard mine. Needless to say, I didn’t sing. I wish I had a picture of the brave singers, but I was so mesmerized by the singing that I forgot to take a picture.
