On April 11 we played a One Gross plus One Net best ball format for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Both morning and afternoon group scores were combined to have only one winner for the day; with a score of 113 was Jack Hill, Bill Dwyer, Milt Olsen and Hal Mahaffey.

On April 16 and 18 our morning group had a Home and Home with Sun Bird Country Club, playing at SBCC on Thursday and PVCC on Saturday. The winning mixed team with a 192 was comprised of Adrian Barber and Bud Murray, PVCC and Dave White and Ken Cross of SBCC. The afternoon group on Saturday played a Scramble and the winning team with a 36.25 was Jack Fitzsimmons, Bud Johns, Mike Swoverland and Bill McCoach.

Our annual Ryder Cup Tournament with Cottonwood was held on April 25 and 26t playing at Cottonwood on Saturday and Palo Verde on Sunday. Palo Verde came out the winners with eight winning teams, seven losing teams and five ties. The afternoon group on Saturday played a Two Best Balls Net format and the winning team with a 99 was Jim Wedeward, Bill Saxton, Charlie Siverton and Jerry Lynn.

The morning group played a Two Net Best Balls on May 2 and the winning team with a 94 was Rick Smith Jim Granzow, Bud Johns and Hal Mahaffey. There was no afternoon play on that Saturday.

On Saturday, May 9, the morning group played Two Man Teams, One Best Ball Net Flighted format with our last lunch meeting until next fall. The winning teams were Flight 1 with a 49 was John Mitchell and Jim Wedeward. The Flight 2 winners was a tie with a 42 were Marty Nelson and Hal Mahaffey along with Jeff Martin and Bill Phillips.

On a more somber note two of our members passed away recently. Jim Gellespie passed away on April 29 and Roger Bazzill passed away on May 2. Both will be dearly missed by all and our prayers go to both families.

Our June calendar may see a sparser field but we will still be having a lot of fun. On June 6 morning will be playing Quota Scoring format (it’s in the Golf Info book) and afternoon will be playing a Scramble format. On June 13, morning will be playing a Select-A-Drive format Two Best Balls Net with no afternoon play. On the June 20 we will be playing a CMGA/PVMGA morning Cotton/Verde Beat the Pro/Superintendent format. No afternoon play. June 27 will see a morning Two Man Teams, Alternate Shot Flighted format.
