With the sport of pickleball becoming so popular in the Valley and across the United States, pickleball clubs, city park courts and tournaments are springing up all over the country. Sun Lakes residents David Zapatka and Dianne Zimmerman scored big in the inaugural PebbleCreek Pickleball Championships winning a bronze medal in the 4.5 mixed division. With regular partner Don Simmons, David Zapatka secured the silver medal losing a heart-breaking gold medal match 9-11,11-1,0-11,15-5 played under the lights as the tournament ran late into the evening due to the large numbers of participants.
