Play pickleball? Yes, you! It’s a free walk-in clinic

Irene D’Aloisio

It’s true! It’s a sport for all ages and all levels of skill, and it’s the fastest-growing sport in North America. And if you are a Cottonwood or Palo Verde (CWPV) resident, the Sun Lakes Pickleball Club Cottonwood (SLPCC) would love to show you what all the excitement is about. You might already know that pickleball (a blend of tennis, badminton, and table tennis) is played on small courts with a lighter paddle and whiffle-type balls. But did you also know that it’s easy to learn and a whole bunch of fun to play? Dare we mention that this fun sport is also easy exercise? It’s a social game, so there can be lots of gab and laughter if you are so inclined.

We love the sport and want to share the fun with you, our community friends, so the club is offering an absolutely-free, no-strings-attached, c’mon down and have some fun walk-in clinic on Fridays once a month. Our next clinic is Dec. 13. If you miss that one, you can catch one on Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 13, or April 10. We’ll teach you how to play and enjoy the game. There’s no sign-up or equipment necessary. Just show up at the Cottonwood pickleball courts wearing your non-marking shoes at 6 p.m. to learn and play. Plan to be there until about 8 p.m. The Cottonwood courts are located on the lake side of the Saguaro Room, next to the tennis courts. The club will provide loaner paddles and balls to CWPV residents during the clinic. There’s no need to join the club for this free clinic. Just come and have fun.
