PVMGA – November 2016 results

Here we are in the midst of the holidays and the omnipresent Bowl Games! We hope and trust that everyone enjoyed the true spirit of Christmas and we wish us all a very happy New Year!

The 2016/2017 season is now well underway and we have the following results to report:

On November 12 a Select-a-Drive event was won by Bob Shaedel, Bill Ryan, Bill Lewis and Bill Phillips with the amazing score of 83!

On November 19, a Turkey Shoot 3 Best Ball Net contest was won by: Mike Lorimer, Bill Ryan, Tony Forbes and Budd Livingstone. Tony Forbes contributed to the win with an “Ace” on the 12th hole!

On November 26, a Team Stableford challenge was easily won by Steve Vandergriff, Ed Johnson, Larry Guild and Roger Wilson!

On December 3, a Two Man, Alternate Shot format was won by Flight 1: (tie) between Cliff Joyes/Ron Cox and Steve Vandergriff/Vic Lesch; Flight 2: Bill Triquart/Rick Onken.

Events scheduled for the New Year include:

The Member/Member Select-a-drive One Net Pari-Mutual contest on the morning of January 7, followed by an afternoon One Gross plus One Net format; A Home and Home Tournament with Sun Lakes Country Club on January 12 and January 14; a fun day charity event on January 21 and the President’s Cup tournament beginning on January 28.

The annual PVMGA Christmas Dinner Dance was held on December 3 and a very good time was had by all!

The PVMGA annual Meeting was held on December 10. The officers elected for the coming year are President Neil Curtis, Vice President Jim Davis, Secretary David Florence and Treasurer Basil Foster. We wish to express our gratitude to our retiring President, Butch Reber, and our retiring Treasurer, Adrian Barber, for their considerable service to this organization. Thank you, gentlemen!

We are proud to report that Dave Florence and Linn Henderson qualified to represent us in the Super Senior flight of the AGA Club Team Championship played at the Moon Valley Country Club on December 12!

The Palo Verde Men’s group is saddened to report the passing, at age 93, of Marcell Grossman on November 25. Marcell was a friend to many of us and he had the good fortune to continue his golf outings until very recently. We will miss you, Marcell – please say Hi to Arnie for us!
