Restless Minds topic: America’s Core Values

Bill Gates

What are America’s core values? What do we, as a society, believe should be guaranteed to every citizen? How well do we deliver on those beliefs?

The Restless Minds discussion group will explore America’s values to identify how well our actions as a society reflect those values. The group will meet from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, in the Sewing Room of Oakwood’s Arts & Crafts Center.

Discussion leader Bobbie Reed will ask the group to consider whether many of the campaign issues raised during the recent election — like public education, health care, freedom of speech/assembly, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, the right to vote and the right to a decent-paying job — represent core values. How well are we, as a society, delivering on these ideals? What should we be doing?

Restless Minds is a discussion group receptive to all people with open, inquisitive minds. There are no dues or membership requirements. All political and social points of view are encouraged to engage in this friendly exchange of ideas each month. Just show up and participate.
