A new mobile-shower trailer unveiled in Chandler recently is designed to provide shower facilities for those who are homeless and receiving temporary housing. The trailer is equipped with three shower stalls, private dressing areas and a washer and dryer to clean clothing on the spot.

Studies show that about one-third of people who are homeless who find employment can’t pass the probationary period because of hygiene issues. What’s more, having access to a shower will help increase self-esteem and reduce the risk of infection and disease.

The Clean Machine project was 18 months in the making, a collaborative effort involving the Chandler Fire, Health and Medical Dept. (they donated the trailer), McCarthy Building Companies who converted the trailer and several volunteer organizations including San Tan Crown Rotary who contributed funds for the purchase of equipment such as washers, dryers, generator, etc.
