Short Line Model Railroad Club is making a comeback

Harry Huckemeyer

With the new year moving right along, February is a time of planning and getting prepared for all the good things that are in store for us in the upcoming days. For starters, we can usually count on Mother Nature to provide us with the type of weather where we can make plans with confidence and enjoy the great outdoors during these special months of the year. For many of us involved in the world of model railroading, February is the time of planning and preparing for the busy months and events ahead that will take us right up to the start of summer.

The Short Line Model Railroad Club usually starts out with a rather busy schedule in early March, participating in several events, along with other clubs around the area. Along with everything else, technology is constantly on the move, and there are always new challenges that pop up to make life interesting. For those who may have an interest, we are always looking for people who would just like to get involved in something different. Almost everybody, at some time in their life, has been fascinated by a steam locomotive or the sound of a train whistle, so here is an ideal opportunity to check things out. Give us a call or stop in at one of our meetings if you have the opportunity.

For those interested in what’s going on regarding Open Houses in the spring and any of the other major events, I suggest you keep tabs on your local publications for additional information. On February 16 at the North Phoenix Baptist Church, there is a Train Swap Meet that will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. It’s really a fun way to spend a couple of hours and, who knows, you may be able to find that one thing that you’ve been looking for at one of the many tables there. For additional information, you can call 602-942-3457, or if that fails, I may able to help you. For additional information regarding our club, feel free to call 480-802-4976, or I can be contacted by email at [email protected]. Have a great day, and enjoy every moment of it.
