Sun Lakes Arts and Crafts Association annual meeting

Diana Ellis

The club will hold its Annual General Meeting on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the Navajo Room in Sun Lakes Country Club (Phase 1). All members and anyone interested in becoming a member are welcome to attend, at which time we will hold a short meeting, followed by registration for our Spring Arts and Crafts Show. New memberships and renewals can be purchased at the meeting. Members must have a valid Sun Lakes HOA card. The Spring Show and Sale is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Oakwood Country Club.

The Sun Lakes Arts and Crafts Association is a group of Sun Lakes residents interested in arts and crafts. For over 30 years, the Association has been hosting annual craft shows that provide members the opportunity to sell their unique and original handcrafted items to the public. Membership is limited to residents of Sun Lakes. Non-resident relatives and friends of residents are not eligible for membership, nor can they participate in the arts and craft shows. Meetings are held the second Monday of January and October at the Sun Lakes Country Club at 10:00 a.m.

To participate as a vendor in our annual shows, you MUST be a member of the Association. No outside vendors are permitted, and no commercial products are allowed. Members must personally handcraft all items sold at the craft shows. Sign-up for the annual shows occurs at the general meetings in January and October. Membership in the Association runs from January to January, and membership dues are $10/year.

Application forms for the shows are available on our website, www.slaca.net, as a pdf file. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can print the application and mail it, along with your check, to our treasurer Nickie Wegner. Her mailing address and contact information is on the website.

The display case at Sun Lakes 1 is updated on the first Monday of the month at 9:00 a.m. by Vel Boardman, phone 480-895-5028. Members are invited to bring their items for display and to pick up items from the previous month. The display case is a great place to showcase your talents and make people aware of what will be offered at the spring and fall shows.

Visit the Association’s website at www.slaca.net for more club information, including show and meeting dates.
