God is Awesome

The older I get the more impressed I become with the awesomeness of God. As a child going to Sunday school, I was impressed by the stories found in the Scriptures of how God used men like Moses, Daniel, David and others to accomplish His will in the lives of His people Israel. Years later I became impressed with the power and creativity of God that I saw in the Book of Genesis, Chapters one and two.

It is recorded there in Genesis that God simply spoke the words and the sun, moon and stars were created. He spoke the words and vegetation, animals, fish and birds were created. He spoke the words and the seasons of the world came into being. All of this without the help of pre-existing matter. God is indeed awesome.

From the Scriptures I have learned that God was before all things, created all things, is above all things, upholds all things, and contrary to common belief, He influences all things; so instead of pushing the panic button when surveying the way our society and country are going, turn to God’s Holy Word and review how He has responded in the past to man’s activities. Again I say, God is awesome!

The Clines Join Our Music Ministry Team

Sun Lakes Community Church recently introduced their new music directors, Gene and Jeanette Cline. The Clines of Sun Lakes, formerly from Tempe, will be serving as choir director and organist/pianist respectively. They have held positions in church music as well as music educators in the East Valley for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Cline invite others who enjoy singing or playing instruments to feel welcome to join in participating in the music program of the church. They may be contacted by email at [email protected] or by phone at 602-430-4787.

The Clines are planning a community wide fall and spring hymn/gospel sing-a-long open to all. The fall sing-a-long will be on Sunday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sun Lakes Chapel.

Missions Ministry Update

New Beginnings is a ministry the church has recently started to help meet the needs of the homeless men/women and expectant mothers who have come upon hard times. We have five organizations receiving our hygiene bags and layettes for newborn babies filled with brand new items. Praying before we work for those receiving these gifts is a big plus!

Sunday Service Information

Join us for our 9:30 a.m. Sunday service in the Chapel located at 9240 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N. in the Sun Lakes Country Club. Fellowship, refreshments and treats follow the service.
