Happenings at the Sun Lakes Country Club library

We are super fortunate to have so many of the most recent new releases available in our library. There are several reasons for our great collection. Our library receives many donations from our readers and the two Sun Lakes Lions Clubs donate generously each year. This past summer we received $400 from the Lions. This strong support system makes our library special.

Readers want new releases and are willing to pay for them. The bookstore sector has shown its first annual gain in sales since 2007. Sales are up 2.5 percent. Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins has sold more than 11 million copies and has been on the best seller lists for more than a year now. Another writer that is extremely popular is Harlan Coben.

Coben’s books are filled with multiple twists. He is an American author of mystery novels and thrillers. The plots of his novels often involve the resurfacing of unresolved or misinterpreted events from cold cases, including murders and fatal accidents. With over 70 million books in print worldwide, Harlan Coben’s last 10 consecutive novels, all debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. His books are published in 43 languages.

Fool Me Once by Coben is included in our New Arrivals section of the SLCC Library. A former Special-Ops pilot, Maya, has retired suddenly after a compromising video has been released on a webcam site. The video reveals that civilians were killed during military action in the Middle East, and Maya is heard giving the order to fire. Soon after Maya’s husband is brutally murdered, Maya’s nannycam captures the image of her dead husband playing with their two year old daughter. Maya quickly begins to doubt her sanity. As she works to learn the truth about her husband, the tension increases page by page. As numerous secrets are revealed, the ending will shock most readers.

Among the other new releases in our library, look for Killing the Rising Sun by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, Smooth Operator by Stuart Woods, Downfall by J. A. Jance, Sting by Sandra Brown, The Black Widow by Daniel Silva, Truly Madly Guilty by Laine Moriarty, Bullseye by James Patterson, and A Perfect Life by Danielle Steel.

Stop by soon. Librarians are available to check out newer releases Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Please read them and return them. Thank you.
