The Sun Lakes Democratic Club’s next meeting is Monday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd.
Our guest speaker for the evening is Eric Ehst who is the director of the Neighbors Who Care organization. Eric has a long history of civic service. He has served as an officer and board member of many local, state and national organizations, including three years as the executive director of the Clean Elections Institute.
Eric will speak to us about the programs and volunteer opportunities in the Neighbors Who Care organization. The goal of Neighbors Who Care is “to recruit, train and manage community volunteers to provide quality non-medical assistive services to enrolled clients via a ‘neighbor helping neighbor’ approach.” Neighbors Who Care provides support services to the homebound and elderly in south Chandler and Sun Lakes.
At all club meetings, we collect non-perishable food items for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30-7:00 p.m. There is also a collection box at the north entrance of the Sun Lakes Sunset Grill lobby. Thanks to your generosity we have collected over 1,680 lbs. of food and $170 so far this year.
Everyone is welcome at our club meetings which are always on the second Monday of each month. Refreshments are served. For more information call Tom Amrhein 480-895-1162.
