I thank the members of Sun Lakes Fly Fishing Club for rekindling my love of the art of fly fishing and for helping me relearn the art of tying, casting techniques and what the best fly is for local catch. They’ve been a very kind, proficient and giving group of people.

“I learned to fly fish with my husband and I am very thankful we enjoyed this incredible art together for many years in a wide variety of locations with people from all over the world. When my husband passed away I couldn’t face fly fishing without him; however, I soon realized how much the sport meant to me and my own tranquility. Nothing surpasses the quiet Zen of water surrounded by all of Mother Nature’s best landscapes with a fly rod in my hand and the sound of the line swishing through the air and, of course, the thrill of catching and safely releasing fish.

All and all fly fishing has given me wonderful memories with my husband, restoring experiences for my sense of peace and tranquility and an opportunity to meet the nicest people around, fly fishers.

Are you interested in a healthy activity that offers relaxation, fresh air and outings with a congenial group of women and men? The SLFFC welcomes both men and women from beginners to the experienced castor for friendship and one to multiple day fishing trips.” (Written by Elaine Drakulich).

Beginning this month the SLFFC will be meeting on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 8:00 a.m. for coffee and/or breakfast at Stone & Barrel Restaurant in Oakwood. Our get-togethers will be open casual conversations amongst members. It will give everyone an opportunity to talk about whatever fly fishing subjects they would like to discuss and an opportunity for some to learn and participate and/or pick up some tips. Most importantly for those that are new to the club it will give them the occasion to befriend others that have the same interest. As with the general philosophy of the club, I just ask that everyone leaves their political hat at the door. Solicitations for products or services from any member or non-members are prohibited unless it’s been cleared by me prior.

Last year I and other club members participated in over 20 one day to multiple day trips so if you’re interested in fly fishing, come to one of our get-togethers. If you have questions, please email or call me at 480-521-1060 or email [email protected].

Fish on! Fish on!
