The next meeting of the Sun Lakes Garden Club (SLGC) will be held at the Chapel Center 9240 N. Sun Lakes Blvd. across from the Sun Lakes Country Club on Monday, June 2 at 9:30 a.m. The June program will be “Container Gardening,” specifically how to plant a salsa garden and all plants necessary to make salsa. We will also learn about growing herbs during the Arizona summer. The speaker will be Lee Ann Aronson, University of Arizona Master Gardener. There will also be a short presentation about the Robson Library and what they can offer the community. It will be presented by Scott Sjolin and Pat Dennehy.

The May 5 program was “Go Wild! Landscaping for Wildlife” presented by Cathy Rymer, City of Chandler, Certified Arborist and Master Gardner. She spoke about how to attract butterflies, which like flat flowers like daisies and hummingbirds, which like tube type flowers. She talked about other small animals, some being birds, lizards and rabbits and their wants and needs. She also discussed different plants, shrubs and trees and which animals they attract.

The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets on the first Monday of each month at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center. Anyone interested in how and what to grow in this area is invited to attend as a guest.
