October is a busy month at Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC), starting with the High Holidays. Rosh Hashanah services will be held on Oct. 2 starting at 7 p.m. and Oct. 3 starting at 10 a.m. The Kol Nidre service on Oct. 11 will start at 7 p.m., and the Yom Kippur service will begin on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. All services will be held at the Sun Lakes Chapel.

A Break-The-Fast will be held on Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Sun Lakes Country Club. The cost is $25 per person. For more information or to make reservations, contact Wendy at 480-584-5909.

Annual dues for membership for the 2024-25 year are $200 per person and include High Holiday tickets. For additional information, check sljc.org. Tickets for non-members are $75 per person, which cover all High Holiday services.

Full services are conducted each month, starting in November, except for July and August, on the second Friday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Sun Lakes Chapel. For additional information or to have your questions answered about SLJC services, call 480-612-4413.

Other October activities include auditions for the spring musical comedy performances of The Family Tree on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel Center. Email [email protected] if you would like to participate. There will be a fundraiser at Macayo’s restaurant, located at 2885 S. Alma School Road in Chandler, on Oct. 22 between 5 and 9 p.m. They will be donating 20% of its dine-in food. Contact Shirley at [email protected] for more information and to obtain a flyer.

On Sunday, Oct. 20, a potluck Sukkot celebration will be held at the home of Wendy and Eric Kerr. For more information, contact Wendy at 602-541-6185. On Sunday, Oct. 27, an adult education session will be held at 2 p.m. entitled “Peace, Politics, and Propaganda: An Insider’s Look at the Fight for Israel on the Military and Media Battlefields.” For complete information and free registration, email [email protected].
