The Sun Lakes Lady Niners are looking forward to starting their 2019 season with a fun year of golf and friendship. Golfers are givers, on and off the course, giving advice about swings and rules to enforce. Golfers are givers, helping to organize events, giving their time and effort and writing checks. Golfers are givers, offering friendship and support to others who also love the sport.

At our January 15 monthly meeting, we gladly welcomed six new members: Beverly Dur, Ann Hegney, Lea Horn, Fran Kleinsteuber, Sue Parmenter and Karen Torrance.

The game for January 8 was low putts. Top winners in Flight 1 were Irene Anderson, Verla Matuschka, Lavonne Mensink; Flight 2 and 3 winners were Sonja White, Liz Tollefsen and Jackie Aagaard. The game for January 15 was low net. Top winners in Flight 1 were Rose Gallagher and Susan Geis; Flight 2 were Joanne Brown and Liz Tollefsen; Flight 3 were Roz Pederson, Arlene Fletcher and Myrna Grave. On January 22, we played Cha Cha Cha, and the winning team was Susan Geis, Jean Olson, Sonja White and Roz Pederson.

January 29 was our annual Partner Scramble, and a good time was had by all. Good food and prizes followed the event which was held at Mulligans. The winners on the front nine were Rose Gallagher, Dottie Wodraska, Paul Cosgrove and Dan Keheberg with a score of 30. On the back nine, the winners were Ann Hegney, Rich Hegney and Alex Cornett with a score of 29. Thanks to Susan Geis and Jackie Aagaard for organizing this event.

Chip-ins for the month of January were credited to Verla Matuschka, Susan Joslyn, Jean Olson, Lavonne Mensink, Joann Brown, Karen Torrance, Yvonne Manroe and Rose Gallagher (3). The only birdie for the month was Ann Hegney.
