League play for the 2019/20 golf season kind of fizzled out at the end of April for the Sun Lakes Lady Niners. Even though we were practicing “safe golf,” some chose to stay safe at home. There will be no organized play from May l through Oct. 31, but you can still play forming your own foursomes. Hopefully, in November, we will be back to our “new normal” for our Welcome Back Brunch. We have been fortunate enough to be able to play in these times, as many other golf clubs have shut down entirely.
The Sun Lakes Lady Niners had four days of league play in April. Unfortunately, the statistics for April 7 have gone missing, so we are unable to report. The game for April 14 was 1 2 3 Waltz, and the players on the winning team were Lavonne Mensink, Mary Bohren, Beverly Jur, and Liz Tollefsen with a score of 51. The game on April 21 was Low Net, and the winner in Flight 1 was Dottie Wodraska, the winner in Flight 2 was Jan Sykes, and the winner in Flight 3 was Beverly Jur. The game of the day on April 28 was Low Gross, and the winner in Flight 1 was Dottie Wodraska, in Flight 2 Beverly Jur, and in Flight 3 Sharon Fratielo.
Well, that’s it for this season. A good time was had by all, even though some of us were not winners. There’s always next year. Stay safe over the summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone in the fall. Please remember, the Sun Lakes Lady Niners are always looking for new members, even over the summer. Membership forms are available in the Sun Lakes Pro Shop. Please consider coming out and hitting a ball and having a ball with them.
