January was quite a busy month for the worship community of Sun Lakes Lutheran Church. Our congregational meeting was held on January 25 to talk about 2014 and our goals for 2015. There was Bible Study on the second and fourth Wednesdays of January. Phoebe Circle met January 27 for Bible Study led by Pastor Cora.

The Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18. A service will be held in the morning at 8:00 a.m. The 40 day Lenten Season will carry the theme focusing on the Lord’s Prayer. The seven Sundays in Lent will center upon the seven petitions. During the Sundays leading up to Easter, Pastor Hallberg is assisted by Pastor Cora Aquilar from Maricopa and Pastor Jane Mitchell from Canada.

On Wednesdays during Lent, members and friends will gather on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. for Soup and Scripture held in the Chapel Center.

A Men’s Group is being formed and will meet on the fourth Saturday for breakfast, fellowship and devotions. It begins at 7:30 a.m. and is open to all men who are interested. Please call Pastor Dale at480-628-9449 for more information.

A social event is being planned this month from February 8-11. We will travel to Havasu for a getaway and fellowship.

Sun Lakes Lutheran Church meets each Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. in the chapel, followed by fellowship time in the Chapel Center.
