It is time to prepare for the 2016-2017 Bocce season. It will begin on November 2-4 with play for 65 minutes on one day a week (your choice). We will be playing on Wednesday (9:00, 10:15 or 11:30 a.m. sessions). Thursday or Friday will play at 9:00 or 10:15 a.m. only, providing we have at least 16 people per session. Since Ellen does the registration and scheduling for the league, you only need to show up and play during your designated time slot. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
We will play two sessions of nine weeks in 2016-2017. Contact Ellen Williams by telephone at 480-512-2405 on or after October 1 (no messages will be accepted during the registration process for returning players). You may register for only two people (your partner and yourself). If you are a new member of the league, please leave a message for Ellen so she may return your call. If you know of someone that wants to join the fun, please have them call Ellen at 480-512-2405 also.
Registration phone calls depend on the HOA where you live. If you have volunteered to assist with the league, please contact Ellen by September 26.
Residents of Sun Lakes Country Club only, who want to join this wonderful fun and cooperative group of seniors, will need to register by phone with a call to Ellen between October 1-14. Residents of the other HOAs may register by phone between October 14-22. We will also have in-person registration at Oasis Park on October 25 and 26, if you prefer, from 10:00 a.m.-noon. We are not competitive players, but do keep track of standings for fun.
If you haven’t played before or want to warm up for the season, we will have instructional days on October 25 and 26 at 10:00 a.m.-noon. At this session, you may also learn the game and rules of play. If you played last year and want to volunteer to teach others, please call Ellen by September 26.
Registration fees will be collected on October 25 and 26 at Oasis Park. This year, you will need to pay $10 for one season and $15 for two seasons. There will be a new registration period in late December for the spring 2017 season. This year, we will play the Thanksgiving week and December holiday weeks with the fall session ending January 6, 2017. If you will be missing those days in November or December, you may get a substitute or agree to play the match with your opponents before December 29. We will play the spring season beginning January 11, 2017 through March 10. A two-person tournament may be scheduled or open play for the remainder of March.
