Sun Lakes Women’s Association looks forward to busy New Year

About half of the Sun Lakes Women’s Association membership was able to attend our Christmas luncheon at Cottonwood this last month.

About half of the Sun Lakes Women’s Association membership was able to attend our Christmas luncheon at Cottonwood this last month.

The Sun Lakes Women’s Association Christmas luncheon on December 12 was attended by about 80 women, and even a few men. We were proud to host the Haul-a-Men, who so graciously help us week in and week out with donation pickups and storage. We also were happy to have some of our favorite Sun Lakes firefighters join us. They are always ready to help us with big projects. Without all of this help, we would not be the successful group we are today. It’s true that behind these hardworking women, you will find some wonderful, helpful men!

The Sun Lakes Women’s Association is proud to announce its new leadership team for 2017; President Judy Canigilia, Vice President Marge Shipe, Treasurer Pat Vachon, Assistant Treasurer Sonja Diemert, Communications Secretary Bonnie Dyer and Recording Secretary Sandy Bealmear. We thank all these ladies for stepping up to leadership and look forward to a great year.

All of our regular monthly meetings are on the second Monday of each month in the Sun Lakes Country Club Arts and Crafts Room. All women residents of Sun Lakes are welcome and encouraged to attend. Our next meeting will be on January 9 at 9:30 a.m. and we would love to see you there! At this meeting we will be installing the new officers, then on to old business, the bylaws. We have been working on updating them and will call for a second reading and possibly a vote. Our bylaws have only changed four times, as we begin our 43rd year of operation. We don’t make these changes lightly. The emphasis will remain to be fellowship and fundraising.

The new leadership will be on the lookout for worthy causes to support in 2017. Our mission statement compels us to distribute the money we raise to benefit the health and happiness of all Sun Lakes and its residents. If you know of a need, please pass it along to us. We do give generously to as many different types of associations as possible. You can easily request funds from our website at SLWomens.org.

Also on the SLWomens.org website you will find a history of our association and a convenient way to contact us. Donating an item, learning about our next event, or joining us are just a few clicks away. Check out SLWomens.org.
