It was more like “dancing for the roses” than “running for the roses” at the Cotillion Dance Club’s final event of the 2014-2015 season! The Kentucky Derby Party theme, celebrating the upcoming 140th race, was the perfect opportunity for the ladies to wear their fancy hats and party dresses. The affair was held April 11 in the beautifully decorated Oakwood Ballroom.
Dining on pot roast with whiskey demi-glace, steel head trout or stuffed red peppers, the 144 members and their guests finished the meal with traditional southern bread pudding with, of course, Kentucky bourbon sauce. Rich Howard and his orchestra provided the music and entertainment.
The brief program for the evening recognized and thanked Larry and Pat Wolfe who have served as co-presidents of the group for the past three years. Also recognized and thanked were members who served on the board with the Wolfes during this time: Mel and Jacquey Moss, Dan and Bev Bumgarner, Joel and Adriane Goldman, John and Judy Ferrin, Larry and Jan Ott, Fred and Linda Smith, along with Rob and Shirley Spade. Congratulations were extended to Rob and Shirley, who will serve as the club’s co-presidents for the 2015-2016 season.
The 2015-2016 season begins October 10. Dances are held the second Saturday of the month, October through April; however, no dance is held in December. October and April are the only two dances that are not black tie events.
