A contingent from the Sun Lakes fire department participated again in the national Carry the Load fundraiser representing their union local 3560 of the International Association of Firefighters. Carry the Load was started by two retired Navy SEALs, Clint Bruce and Stephen Holly. Its goal is to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day and to honor the sacrifices made by our military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personal. Assisted by family members and pets, the Sun Lakes contingent said it was their honor to further the cause despite the heat and the added weight of their gear and equipment.
