Two special events at Community Church

Sandy Ross

On February 20, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., Sun Lakes Community Church presents the East Valley Chorale at the Sun Lakes Chapel. Sometimes calling themselves “refugees” or a “refuge for those who love singing in choirs,” the East Valley Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Cochran, is described as “giving former church choir members a place to join their hearts and voices through richly meaningful music that expresses faith, hope and love.”

The concert is free – we will take a love offering for them – and everyone in Sun Lakes is invited. The tickets are free! Because this is a very big event, we have a very big ticket – and it is yours FREE. Be sure and pick up several and bring your friends. Call the church office at 480-895-9147, and we will email them to you.

Pastor Jerry says, “I have several of the chorale’s CDs and am often listening to them as I go about church business. So, if you want a preview, ask to listen when you stop by the office.”

Bruce Cochran is the founder and director of the Chorale. His sharing of humorous and inspirational stories underscores the meaning behind musical selections. As an avid reader, he delights concertgoers with favorite author excerpts. He especially is appreciated for his engaging connection with singers and musicians.

On March 10, 2018, we are offering a special seminar on “Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Other Forms of Memory Loss.” The presenter will be Dr. Stephen Flitman, a neurologist, along with his team from Xenoscience Neurology in Phoenix.

This event is also free and is offered specifically with all of Sun Lakes in mind – not just our own congregation. Pre-registration will be required. The event will take place in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration is available by calling the church office at 480-895-9147. Call and we will email the tickets to you.

Dr. Flitman, M.D., is both a neurologist and a psychiatrist affiliated with Dignity Health St Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center, Abrazo Central Campus and Abrazo Scottsdale Campus.

His expertise is in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, electromyography, epilepsy, headache, migraine disorder, migraine disorders, multiple sclerosis (MS) and nerve conduction studies.

Sun Lakes Community Church meets for worship each Sunday at the Sun Lakes Chapel, 9230 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N., across from the Sun Lakes Country Club. The office is located at 25811 South Country Club Dr. The phone number is 480-895-9147. The website is www.sunlakescommunitychurch,org.
