Unity explores at the OdySea

Kay Davis

Unity Church of Sun Lakes plans a social outing we call Unity Explores every month. We have fun going to special places and enjoying a time outside of our church service to bond and deepen our friendships with each other. On one of our Explores day, we went to the OdySea Aquarium in Mesa. After viewing the ocean life, we went to lunch at the Mediterranean restaurant on the third tier of the same building. We all agreed the food was wonderful. On another Explores day, Kay Wilke showed us slides and gave us a presentation of her travels to third world countries. What an invaluable gift to be able to have a glimpse into the lives of souls on the other side of the world!

Other Explores have been to go on the Dolly Steamboat ride at Canyon Lake where we saw a nest of baby eagles, a mature flying eagle and a herd of Longhorn sheep on the side of the canyon. It was a day filled with natural beauty. Our Explores day took us to the Spice of Life senior talent show where one of our regular church soloists at Unity, Vera Pollock, performed on stage. In years past, Vera, with her beautiful jazzy-style voice, sang in off Broadway musicals. We finished the day with dinner at the Olive Garden.

These once-a-month outings give us all something to look forward to. What a nice way to get to know and appreciate our church family! If this sounds like something that appeals to you, join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room of SLCC for our regular church service. Explores is just one of the many activities Unity has to offer. See our website, http://unityofsunlakes.org.
