Unity: Lent, a Time for Reflection

Kay Davis

Unity Church of Sun Lakes is a New Thought Spiritual community. We follow the teachings of Jesus, as well as other wise Spiritual Masters. We practice positive thinking and affirmative prayer. Rev. Jeanne MacLaughlin is our minister and prepares weekly lessons for us on YouTube. Check us out on our website, www.unityofsunlakes.org.

It’s April, the end of Lent and the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. It’s planting season, so we plant our seeds. Jesus is our teacher and the great example, rather than the great exception. He told us that the amazing things he did, we could do also and even greater. When he was crucified, he forgave the soldiers who tortured him and the thieves who were crucified beside him. In order to be at peace with the God of our being, we must forgive ourselves and our brothers and sisters whom we have judged. To have peace in the world, we must first cultivate peace in our own heart and mind. Let us plant the seeds of love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, and reap the harvest of a deeper heartfelt connection with Spirit and each other.
