Update on Sun Lakes Italian-American Club

Steve Ambroso

Viva Italia! It’s time for all Sun Lakes Italian-American Club (SLIAC) members and guests to get together using social distancing and COVID-19 safety measures!

The Sun Lakes Italian-American Club will be having a cheese ravioli dinner/meeting on Monday, May 3, at Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom. This will be our last meeting until October, as we take the summer off. All tables will be spaced appropriately, and there will be a maximum of six people per table. This will allow us to properly use social distancing and COVID-19 safety measures. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for sign-in and cash bar. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The cost for the dinner will be $20. If you are thinking about joining the club and want to check us out, feel free to come to the dinner meeting as a guest. If you are a member and on our mailing list, you will be receiving an email with RSVP info around April 20. RSVP must be made by Wednesday, April 28, before the meeting. After April 28, it will be too late to add you to the RSVP list.

We had a successful April dinner meeting with 50 members in attendance. The theme at the April meeting was “Interactive Italian Trivia,” and everyone got involved and had a great time. The speaker at the May meeting will be Gary Evanson, a local Italian wine expert, who will be making his annual visit.

After a survey of members, the top six topics for future dinner meetings are:

1. Best local Italian restaurants

2. Interactive Italian trivia

3. Italian genealogy

4. Best Italian cities to tour (Rome, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Capri, Venice)

5. Italian wine expert

6. Sisk Park Potluck Lunch in April

We look forward to a fun-filled dinner meeting with fellow SLIAC members. If you have questions, feel free to email or call me at [email protected], 817-988-8809.

Grazie. Ci vediamo presto. (Thank you. See you soon.)
