How would you like to sit in the office chair of Jerry Jones, president, owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, if only briefly? Well, Bobby Reeves had that opportunity as a part of his recent “Football Fantasy Weekend” as a guest of Mr. Jones and the Cowboys at the magnificent 80,000 seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
AT&T Stadium is the world’s largest domed structure and it features a 60-yard wide high definition video screen. Bobby says it’s the most impressive sports venue he’s ever seen…by far!
As a part of his weekend activities, he was given a private tour of the stadium, including locker rooms, offices and the field. He also met several staff members, players and former players. Following a VIP buffet at the stadium, he watched the Cowboys-Patriots game from his VIP seats in front of Jerry Jones’ “owner’s perch.” There was another buffet spread at half time where he mingled with some of Mr. Jones’ other guests.
So how and why did Bobby get this opportunity? As with many things in life, it’s whom you know! Bobby’s grandson is marrying the granddaughter of Jerry Jones’ private secretary. In fact, she’s been Jerry’s private secretary for over 36 years, going way back to before he bought the Cowboys for a cool $140 million in 1989.
There was only one disappointment during the weekend: The Patriots thumped the Cowboys 30-6. Oh well, even the best of fantasies can have small glitches!
