If you have an interest in history, finance, the arts, how to plant a garden in the desert, Mah Jongg and many more areas, you are a perfect candidate for New Adventures in Learning. New Adventures is a learning program for seniors affiliated with the Chandler-Gilbert Community College and its classes are held at the Sun Lakes Center at the corner of Alma School and Riggs Road. The building may look like just a medical center but look a little closer. You will see the facility where classes are open to residents of Sun Lakes, Solera, SunBird and the surrounding area.

In addition to the knowledge you will gain by taking classes you will also have the opportunity to meet interesting people who enjoy learning just like you. The learning takes place in an air-conditioned state-of-the-art facility. There is easy access from the large parking lot that is located in close proximity to the building and the parking is free of charge.

Classes are set up to be fun. They are one to two hours in length; there are no tests or grades, no homework and no pressure. You are in a setting with other seniors who are interested and eager to learn. The instructors are volunteers who have a wealth of knowledge about their subject matter and a desire to help you learn and enjoy the class.

New Adventures is a volunteer organization supported by its members. Since its inception in 1999, New Adventures membership has grown to over 500 seniors. Annual dues are $50 which allows members to register for as many courses as they wish. There is an additional $15 college registration fee for each semester a member is actively enrolled in classes.

If this sounds like you check us out by visiting our facility at 25105 S. Alma School at the corner of Riggs Road or call 480-857-5500 for more information. The facility is closed on Fridays through July. You can also visit our web site at www.newadventures.info.

There is still time to register for summer classes which run through July.
