Golden Goalies is growing – as a group. We have quite a few new members, and that’s a good thing. Growing is good because it acknowledges that we’re on the right track, and helping those who want to improve their health by losing weight is very important to all of us in Golden Goalies.
What matters isn’t the number of people seated at the tables – it’s that those at the tables are finding value in the group. They value their health, and they know their own weight is going down while healthy actions are stepping forward.
Once someone is a member, she tends to remain a member. A few lose interest for a while, but most return and stay involved as long as they live in Sun Lakes.
We’re happy to see that most members have made a long-term commitment. We want to be losers, and then we want to be keepers – to keep the weight off.
In case you’re curious, here’s a breakdown of member longevity with Golden Goalies:
11 members with at least 20 years as Goalies
6 members have been with us between 10 and 20 years.
6 members have 5-10 years with us.
15 members have between 1 and 5 years.
10 members have less than one year with us (so far).
That’s by my count. A few of those with several years under their belt have recently returned. And I acknowledge that three or four are not regular attendees. But I’m sure we’ll see them again. Those three or four pay their dues, so either they just like our friendly faces or they plan to return to this inspiring, supportive group.
Join us. You’ll find support, motivation, shared wisdom and some good laughs. Weigh-in is Saturday from 7:00 to 7:40 a.m. in Room A-8, near the Cottonwood Library. The meeting starts after weigh-in. Contact Rita at 895-2559 for more information.
