Although it’s too late to sign up and play, you can still come watch the fun in the annual Norris Invitational Tournament (NIT) beginning on March 5, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. This annual pickleball tournament is held at the Cottonwood pickleball courts in Sun Lakes. And maybe, just maybe, your favorite pickleball player or your next-door neighbor might be participating. It’s free to watch and cheer! You probably already know that pickleball is exciting and high-energy, and it’s the fastest-growing sport in America. And have you been curious about it? Then come watch the tournament and see what all the hype is about.
This double-elimination and round robin event has both mixed doubles and doubles and encompasses five rating categories for the various skill levels. And it’s just for the Sun Lakes community. It’s a huge event, and over 100 entries are expected this year. There will be lots of pickleball play and several days to see it all, since it goes from March 5 through March 9, or thereabouts, with a rain-day scheduled on March 10.
