On April 13 at 7:00 p.m., our Shabbat service takes on a more somber note as the Sun Lakes Community joins together for this historic event of solidarity and worship. It commemorates the lives and heroism of Jewish people who died in the Holocaust between 1933 and 1945.
Clergy from five Sun Lakes churches will join Rabbi Irwin Wiener and Cantor Ronda Polesky at the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Shabbat Service at the Sun Lakes Chapel located in the Sun Lakes Country Club, Riggs Road and Sun Lakes Boulevard.
Participating clergy are:
Rev. Dr. Marvin Arnpriester of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church,
Rev. Dr. Vernon Meyer of the United Church of Christ,
Rev. Jerry McGhee of the Sun Lakes Community Church,
Rev. Dr. Debbie Brown of the Unity Church of Sun Lakes and
Rev. Dr. Nathan Bowman of the Sun Lakes Lutheran Church.
There will also be a joint Choir presentation under the direction of Lana Oyer.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the community to light candles in memory of those who perished. The entire community is invited to participate. A Social Hour will follow in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club.
Further information is available from the participating congregations.
