With temperatures ranging from the 90s to a couple of 100-degree days, as well as the spring winds that blew through, we were thankful to have a great day to play! Sixteen teams signed up to play in a round robin format that included Men’s division, Women’s and Mixed Doubles. A good number of spectators were on hand to cheer for everyone participating. Thank you to Joann Zapatka for putting together the teams and format and to Monica Dickens and her faithful team of volunteers who get everything set up, provide food and prizes and make the event fun for all!
Kim Fliethman and David Bissell – Men’s Division
Tibbie Landwher and Beth Ball – Women’s Division
Milt Sharp and Claudia Farrar – 1st place in Mixed Doubles Level 2
Scott Hickman and Karen Hickman – 1st place in Mixed Doubles Level 1
We have many excellent players in our community who compete regularly in tournaments, and we have some fairly new players who are entering and winning! For a look at the winners in our midst, visit the IronOaks Pickleball Club at our website, https://www.ironoakspickleball.com/single-post/2018/01/08/And-the-Winners-list-keeps-on-growing.
Please vote Yes in the upcoming Change of Use Vote for the addition of approximately 45 parking spaces near the Oakwood Clubhouse and the conversion of clay courts into eight new pickleball courts. This will resolve the overcrowded pickleball problem in IronOaks and allow many more homeowners to sign up for this exciting sport!
