Bob Greene, MOGA publicity
It’s time to renew your MOGA membership! This year, new and renewing members of MOGA have the opportunity to pay their membership online using a credit card. Members can log in to their profile page on the AGA website at www.azgolf.org and click on the “Renew” button. (More detailed information is available with the membership application on the MOGA website.) The membership fee remains the same as last year; $125 Full Membership and $65 for Handicap Only Membership. Membership is open to both residents and non-residents of IronOaks. Membership fees should have been paid by December 10 in order to be eligible for January MOGA events.
Volunteers Needed: We are “looking for a few good men.” Sound familiar? We are in need of a few members to step up and volunteer to help this year to lighten the workload for our committees and officers.
The organization runs smoothly, but without our volunteers, there is no organization. We are looking for a volunteer to be an Awards Chairman. If you have a few hours each month to help, please contact Dan Bogaard at 641-780-2666 or [email protected].
Are you new to the area or just looking for a great way to spend time on the course and meet some new friends? You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join MOGA. We have over 350 members with golfers at every level. You will meet new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week. Membership application and more information is available on our website at www.mogagolf.org.
Upcoming schedule (game descriptions are on the MOGA website):
January 3 AM – Low Gross/Net
January 10 AM – Chapman
January 17 AM – MOGA Championship/Super Seniors
January 24 AM – MOGA Championship/Super Seniors
January 31 AM – ABCD Rainbow
Note: Through the middle of February, there will only be one MOGA shotgun (at 10:00 a.m.), thus eliminating the possibility of frost delays affecting the AM players.
New Golf Rules: New changes to the rules, now referred to as “Laws,” are in effect. Some of the new laws are optional, and our Pro Staff are discussing how the rules will be applied on our courses. For more information about the rule changes, please go to the link on our website.
You are invited to join the “Adopt a Hole” program! It’s free, you have time to talk to yourself, enjoy the fresh air, practice filling in divots and it makes you feel good. Steve Crowell and I have adopted the Lakes #5 for the past several years, and it only takes about 20 to 25 minutes to cover the course. It really is a pleasant start of your day or a nice quiet time at the end of a day. It also helps to make the courses look good.
Please remember there are no “Gimmie’s” in MOGA. You must put your ball into the cup—no exceptions. A “foursome” cannot change the rule.
