It is an impressive thing to create something that didn’t previously exist… and not only have it last, but thrive. That is only one of Bill Bartoo’s accomplishments.
Growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a happy time, filled with family events and lots of basketball.
After high school, Uncle Sam had his own plans for Bill and required his service in the military during the Korean War. He made his contribution to the war effort by working in Damage Control aboard the USS Saint Paul, a Baltimore Class Cruiser with eight battle stars for service in the war. Included among her many missions, the USS Saint Paul provided a curtain of shellfire around the Wonsan harbor to support the withdrawal of U.N. and Republic of Korea forces.
Thank you, Bill, for your service to our country!
I am grateful to live in Sun Lakes where these quiet heroes walk among us!
After his Navy service, Bill could be found working his way through Arizona State University, grading papers, surveying and driving a laundry truck.
Fresh out of college with his degree in construction engineering, he went to work for O’Malley Glass & Millwork Company and proved himself valuable in numerous responsibilities, including drafting, estimating and project management.
In 1980, Bill took a bold step and started his own business, Western Millwork, with only one employee.
From that humble beginning, today, Western Millwork has grown to employ 350 employees and generate over $320 million in annual revenue. Wow!
Since 1980, Western Millwork has produced architectural woodwork and casework of the highest quality for contractors and architects throughout the Southwest United States. With over 170,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehousing and office space and a dedicated team of professionals and craftsmen in place, Western Millwork continues the “mission” it has followed for the past 28 years. Their many projects include the Minneapolis Football Stadium… complete with granite lockers.
Bill has been married to his beautiful wife Paula for 55 years. They have three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren! Now that, my friends, is a legacy!
When not golfing with IMGA, you may find Bill giving the Niners in Oakwood a run for their money.
Bill, we are glad that you are a part of our community and are proud to recognize you as the IMGA Golfer of the Month!
