We are losing one of our members. Our friend and fellow golfer, John Pallace, is leaving Sun Lakes for health reasons. John is one of our long time members and one of the nicest guys in the league. If you needed a hand with some small task, John could be counted on to say yes. John was so loyal to our league and played so many games each year that in his honor we created a special award for the membership. This award is given each year to the Niner who plays the most league games during our season. I know I speak for the entire membership when I say we will miss John Pallace. Travel safely and be well, old friend.
The Oakwood courses reopened at the end of October. With the reopening comes a period of time when the new grass is growing in and the rule is “cart path only.” Walking back and forth to the cart can add some time to a round. The way to reduce the time on the course is cooperation and heads up play. Take a couple of clubs with you when you walk out to your ball. Have your partner move the cart forward and catch up after your next ball strike. Play “ready golf,” hit safely and without delay. Putt out and mark the score card at the next tee box. If we all cooperate we can reduce the on course time for our round.
