Doris Codkind, Publicity
It’s hard to believe we have only two more months before our summer hiatus. Our 2018/2019 schedule has been filled with interesting and fun programs.
On Tuesday, April 9, we continue our movie and lunch series with the showing of The Best of Enemies at Harkins Theater at Chandler Mall, based on the true story of an outspoken civil rights activist and a local Klu Klux Klan leader who reluctantly co-chair a community summit. They battle over the desegregation of schools in Durham, NC, during the racially-charged summer of 1971. The incredible events that unfold would change Durham and the participants’ lives forever.
We will meet at the Harkins Theater in the morning. Lunch will follow at Stone & Barrel in the Oakwood (Sun Lakes) clubhouse. You will purchase your own movie tickets and lunch.
Please email Barbara Silverman at [email protected] no later than April 6 if you are planning on joining us for lunch.
On May 14, we look forward to our last program when we will host a local guest author and enjoy our end-of-year luncheon. More information will follow.
